Winter Fishing in Florida

As the rest of the country freezes, we here in Miami are enjoying some great weather and some great fishing. While some species of fish are migrating South as the weather cools, there are still a number of types of fish appearing during the wonderful, mild Miami winter season. The months of November through February are ideal for catching Snapper, Sailfish, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Spanish mackerel, Tarpon, and Trout. These fish are great for angling, with exciting and flashy swimming as your draw in the line. Miami Deep Sea Fishing is also a great escape from the stress of the holidays and the perfect activity for you to enjoy with your family.

The THERAPY-IV fleet is located in Halouver Marina, just 6 minutes from the gulfstream. Check out pictures of some of the monsters we have caught deep-sea fishing on the Daily Catch section of our website. We also have a YouTube page filled with exciting catches. That could be you and your family on your next fishing trip with Therapy-IV!

Our fishing experience is perfect for anyone, beginners and seasoned alike. Book a trip with us and see why, to seasoned anglers, there is nothing more thrilling than the tell-tale tug of a “monster” on the fishing line. Monsters, as they are affectionately nick-named, refer to big game fish. In Loving Memory of Richard Sharpstein, An All-American Hero

Today we would like to honor one of my very good friends, Richard Sharpstein, who has left us far too early. Known to his friends as one of the kindest, most loving people we’ve ever met, he will never be forgotten.

Richard Sharpstein was a renowned Miami criminal lawyer, recognized as a larger-than-life courtroom figure with a signature gravel voice and engaging personality. Richard was the best at his job, and had handled some of Miami Dade County's most high profile cases in a career that spanned four decades. He focused on white collar criminal defenses, but he tried cases across a wide range of crimes including civil fraud, civil rights violations, and cases involving corporate executives, politicians, and other public figures.

"I admired Richard as an attorney and later as a judge when he appeared in front of me," former Third District Court of Appeal Chief Judge Juan Ramirez, Jr. wrote on the Daily Business Review website. "He was colorful but ethical and trustworthy. His arguments were well thought out and incisive. As a human being, he was a great guy. We will miss him."

Services for renowned Miami criminal lawyer Richard Sharpstein will be held Sunday on Miami Beach. The funeral will take place at Temple Beth Sholom, 4144 Chase Ave., at 1:30 p.m. His law firm, Akerman Senterfitt, announced the creation of a donation bank in his honor, the Foundation for Criminal Justice.

The THERAPY-IV offers our condolences to his family and all those who cared for Richard. His memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

Now, just a glimpse into a wonderful life gone too soon:

Are You Growing Your Mustache for Movember?

By now you’ve probably heard of “Movember,” November’s Prostate Cancer Awareness campaign that challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and proceed to grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was to simultaneously bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.

In 2004 the campaign evolved and focused on raising awareness and funds for the number one cancer affecting men – prostate cancer. 432 Mo Bros joined the movement that year, raising $55,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia - representing the single largest donation they had ever received.

The Movember moustache has continued to grow year after year, expanding to the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Finland. In 2009, global participation of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas climbed to 255,755, with over one million donors raising $42 Million US equivalent dollars for Movember’s global beneficiary partners.

Make your way to Haulover Marina with your mustache and take a trip with The THERAPY-IV crew for a Miami Deep Sea Fishing experience like no other! Contact me, Captain Stan, for further information by calling 305-945-1578.

Miami Hurricanes VS Virgina Tech Hokies- The Ultimate Rivalry!

Stay tuned this weekend for one of the season’s most-anticipated games of the year- the battle on Saturday between the ‘Canes and the Hokies. On the line: an inside track to the ACC Coastal Division title with little margin for error as the regular season winds down.

The American college football rivalry between the Miami Hurricanes football team of the University of Miami and Virginia Tech Hokies football team of Virginia Tech is a longstanding one that developed when the Hokies became a member of the Big East Conference for football in 1995. The Hurricanes and Hokies football teams first met on November 13, 1953 in Miami. Miami and Virginia Tech have met in two bowl games, the 1966 Liberty Bowl and the 1980 Peach Bowl. When the ACC expanded in 2004, both Miami and Virginia Tech became members of the ACC. Both teams continue to compete annually as part of the ACC's Coastal Division.

Taking a pre-emptive look  at Saturday’s game, Virginia Tech has a 6-4 advantage over Miami since joining the ACC and is 12-6 since notching its first-ever series win back in 1995. The Hurricanes won last year's Thursday night showdown at Sun Life Stadium, 30-12, but prior to that had dropped 5-of-6 to the Hokies. Atlantic Coast Conference realignment—the addition of Syracuse and Pittsburgh—resulted in a second straight match-up between Miami and Virginia Tech in South Florida, an obvious break for the Hurricanes. Miami (7-1) enters this week's contest coming off a 41-14 loss to Florida State in Tallahassee. Virginia Tech (6-3) has dropped two straight, falling to Boston College and Duke back-to-back-weeks.

We at The THERAPY-IV love our sports and will be keeping you up-to-date on latest news and updates in College and Pro Football.. If you’re looking for a thrilling day out, consider us for your next Miami Deep Sea Fishing trip. Call me, Captain Stan, at 305-945-1578.

Heat Victory Over Toronto Raptors- LeBron Shining Star!

Yesterday, the Miami Heat came out victorious against the Toronto Raptors with a score of 104-95. They struggled the first half but managed a big second half with help from a monster individual performance by LeBron James.

While the Raptors outplayed the Heat for most of the first two quarters, LeBron kept his team within reach until everyone else on the team came alive. He finished the game with a season-high statline that would be ridiculous for any other player in the league: 35 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. In comparison, Dwyane Wade had 20 on Tuesday and Ray Allen scored 14 points for Miami, which lost at Philadelphia on Oct. 30 and was beaten 101-100 at Brooklyn on Nov. 1.

Miami topped 100 points for the fifth straight game, extending their team-record run to begin the season. With a putback dunk at 2:31 of the first quarter, James became the fifth player in NBA history to score 10 points or more in 500 consecutive games.

"When I see a stat like that, I'm like 'Wow,' because I know the history of the game, I know the guys who paved the way for myself and my teammates," James said. "To be in such a great class like that, it's an amazing feeling."

James has reached double figures in every game since being held to eight points at Milwaukee on Jan. 5, 2007. He scored 19 at New Jersey the following night.

"In practice, during shootaround and during games, he's a consistent player, period," Wade said. "I'm not surprised by that. Just more surprised at how he's been able to keep himself out there on the floor."

We at The Therapy-IV love our sports and will be keeping you up-to-date on latest news and updates in basketball. What better way to celebrate this week's victory than to enjoy a day out at sea and enjoying the famous Miami climate. If you’re looking for a thrilling day out, consider us for your next Miami Beach Deep Sea Fishing trip. Call me, Captain Stan, at 305-945-1578.

The Thrill of Marlin Fishing in Miami

To seasoned anglers, there is nothing more thrilling than the tell-tale tug of a “monster” on the fishing line. Monsters, as they are affectionately nick-named, refer to big game fish such as Marlin. The Marlin, iconic inspiration for the Miami Marlins and Hemingway’s animal protagonist in The Old Man and the Sea, is especially considered by many fishermen to be the pinnacle of deep sea fishing. This is due to the size, power, and speed of the species, which weigh, on average, between 200 to 400 lbs and can swim as fast as 70 miles/hour. MiamiMarlin fishing is an adventure available to anyone through The THERAPY-IV fleet- its boats are even outfitted for wheelchair accessible fishing.

In the past, it required considerable skill to capture a Marlin, but the top-of-the-line equipment found on the THERAPY-IV makes fishing them today more plausible, effective, and comfortable. These features include a large tuna tower for spotting Marlins and other big game, giant live bait tanks, giant outriggers for spacing the baits apart and a giant flying bridge with a captain’s chair and two fighting chairs. Marlins tend to flap wildly after being caught, but the cockpit fishing area is equipped with a giant transom door for boating the monsters safely.

Located in Halouver Marina, The THERAPY-IV fleet is just 6 minutes from the gulf stream, a prime spot for catching Blue and White Marlins as they migrate. We at The THERAPY-IV have over 40 years experience fishing Miami’s coastline, which makes us the experts on the art of baiting and catching marlin. Booking a fishing trip with The THERAPY-IV is easy-reservations can be placed online or over the phone- and pricing is reasonable- we match any legitimate pricing of comparable fishing charter boat services.
We set sail 7 days a week, twice daily between 8 am and 5 pm. Contact me, Captain Stan, for further information by calling 305-945-1578.

NBA Eastern Conference is Tough – But Heat Remain On Top According to Analysts

This season, the Miami Heat are going to have to battle one of the strongest fields of competition in recent memory in order to win a third straight NBA title. From the Pacers, Nets and Bulls in the Eastern Conference to the Spurs and Thunder in the West, the targets remain a force to be reckoned with for the second year in a row; but, analysts express a positive outlook for our local team.

An article from the Washington Post provides insight on the upcoming season:

“Including playoffs, the Heat won 78 percent of their games against Eastern Conference opponents last season — the third-best winning percentage any NBA team posted against its own half of the league in the last 16 years. The Heat won 39 of their final 45 matchups with East foes, on the way to capturing the conference title for the third straight year.

“Each and every night, to get up and play at your best, it can be challenging,” said Reggie Miller, the Hall of Fame player who’s now an analyst for TNT. “And with those other teams getting better, it could be a long haul. But, look, as long as you have the best player on the planet, you can never really discount the Heat. And that’s what they have. They always have the ultimate trump card in LeBron James.”

The Heat outscored East clubs by 562 points with James on the floor last season. How dominant is that? Dwyane Wade was No. 2 on that plus-minus list, 192 points behind the league’s four-time MVP. James scored 1,653 points against East teams last season, one point less than New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony managed against the conference’s teams. Anthony took 244 more shots, though.”

Catch the Heat tonight in a game against the Brooklyn Nets at 8 pm on ESPN. If you’re looking for a thrilling day out, consider The THERAPY-IV for your next Miami Deep Sea Fishing trip. Call me, Captain Stan, at 305-945-1578.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month - The NFL and THERAPY-IV Are Going Pink

As you may already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and everyone is jumping on the pink bandwagon to show their support for all the victims of breast cancer. The THERAPY-IV is excited and proud to show our support as we hang our pink flags throughout the month.

Even the NFL home page has gone completely pink, and there’s no shame in that! Not only that, but players and coaches will continue to wear pink through the Week 7 as part of the league’s breast cancer awareness initiative, as well as using pink coins, equipment, goalpost padding and sideline hats. This is the fifth year in which the league recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Their campaign, "A Crucial Catch", in partnership with the American Cancer Society, is “focused on the importance of annual screenings, especially for women who are 40 and older.” All apparel worn at games by players and coaches, along with special game balls and pink coins will be auctioned off at NFL Auction, with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society's Community Health Advocates National Grants for Empowerment (CHANGE) program. The NFL does not profit from the sale or auction of breast cancer awareness-identified ("Pink") merchandise. Since 2009, the first year of the NFL's "A Crucial Catch" campaign, the NFL's work has raised approximately $4.5 million for the American Cancer Society, with the majority of the contribution coming from the sale of Pink items at retail and via the NFL Auction website.

Speaking of “catches,” hop aboard one of The THERAPY-IV yachts and expect no shortage of monster fish hanging at the end of your fishing lines! Our fishing charter was awarded TripAdvisors’ Traveler’s Choice for 2013, rated “excellent” by over 340 travelers. Count on our team, with 47 years experience in the business, for your next Miami Beach Deep Sea Fishing trip! Call me, Captain Stan, at 305-945-1578 to book your fishing trip today.

The Excitement of Barracuda Fishing In Miami Beach

Sometimes referred to as the “tiger of the sea,” Barracudas have a fierce reputation and a fearsome set of razor-sharp teeth that make them popular targets for Miami Beach Deep Sea Fishing enthusiasts. A great aspect of Miami Beach Barracuda Fishing is that the ‘cudas can be found inshore, offshore, near coral reefs, inlets, swimming in the ocean, in the Gulf Stream- pretty much anywhere! After a hefty fight, catching a big one can be very exciting, rewarding, and even addicting.

With over 40 years experience fishing the Atlantic and bay waters of Miami, the Therapy-IV team is the best team to spend a day out on the sea with. We have an expert crew and two fantastic 58-foot vessels fully-equipped to catch any fish traversing our waters, making us your best bet to hooking these good-looking fish. Barracudas caught in our waters average in size between 8 and 20 lbs, but can grow to be much larger than 25 lbs.

In addition to Barracuda, you can find a huge variety of species in the Atlantic waters of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, most of them visible all year round. Some include numerous types of sharks, Marlin, Dolphin fish, Tuna, Grouper, Snapper, Black Sea Bass, and Kingfish, among many others. Check out pictures of some of the monsters we have caught deep-sea fishing on the Daily Catch section of our website: http://therapy4.com/daily_catch.php. That could be you and your family on your next fishing trip with Therapy-IV!

Big Weekend for Miami Sports Teams

It was a fantastic weekend for Miami football fans, as both games resulted in the Dolphins and ‘Canes moving on with a 3-0 season so far!

The Miami Dolphins closed on a win against the Atlantic Falcons yesterday, who put up a good fight and did all the right things. Rising star Ryan Tannehill, the team’s quarterback, led the Dolphins to a 27-23 win, making them 3-0 for the first time since 2002. These spectacular performances since the start of the season is getting Tannehill noticed, and many consider him to be the new Dan Marino- the Dolphin’s franchise quarterback. Catch the team’s next game on September 30th against the New Orleans Saints at 8:30 pm.

This weekend marked an astounding win for the Miami Hurricanes, as well, as they crushed Savannah State with a 77-7 victory. The record-breaking game went smoothly but for an injury to starting quarterback Stephen Morris. Six minutes in, Morris fell with a right-ankle sprain, but in those few minutes he led the Canes on two scoring drives. The injury was diagnosed as minor enough to get Morris ready in time for their game on Saturday against USF.

We at the Therapy-IV love our sports and will be keeping you up-to-date on latest news and updates in college and pro-football. What better way to celebrate this week's victory than to enjoy a day out at sea for some Miami Dolphin Fishing. If you’re looking for a thrilling day out, consider us for your next Miami Deep Sea Fishing trip. Call me, Captain Stan, at 305-945-1578.

The History of THERAPY-IV’s Home Haulover Park and Marina

The THERAPY-IV is based in Halouver Marina, just 2 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean and 6 minutes from the Gulf Stream. Our home gives us a prime spot for Miami Deep Sea Fishing, inshore and offshore, and is located just south of Sunny Isles and north of Bal Harbour on Collins Avenue. The THEAPY-IV has operated in the area for decades, and has frequently been involved with or promoted several local events over the years, particularly those that occur in its headquarters near Big Bill Marina, located in Haulover Park. Our reputable deep sea fishing charter has been ranked as the #1 activity in Miami Beach by TripAdvisor, a travel website, and is well-regarded by its clients, based on testimonials.

Halouver Park is a 99-acre urban park in Miami, located on a shoal between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. It features a marina, six tennis courts, a nine-hole 27-par golf course, and several picnic recreation areas on the southern end. In late 1948, Halouver Park became open to the public, about 8 years after the Dade County Commission procured the property and began construction on beach facilities. In 1991, a portion of the northern beach  was designated by South Florida Free Beaches, a local naturist organization, and remains a clothing-optional beach to this day.

We at The THERAPY-IV boast over 40 years of experience fishing the South Florida waters. We set sail 7 days a week, twice daily between 8 am and 5 pm. All-day charters are also available for private, corporate, or group fishing. Contact me, Captain Stan, for further information at 305-945-1578 or via http://therapy4.com.

Miami Dolphins Persevere in Win Against Colts

It was a glorious, 24-20 victory for the Miami Dolphins this Sunday against the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis! Thanks to a switch in defensive tactics to combat the elusive Andrew Luck, who had been pulling amazing plays the whole afternoon, the Dolphins gained and held a four-point lead for the game’s final minutes and won. Ryan Tannehill got Mike Wallace more involved in the offense, the running game improved, and the defense made big plays- our team earned the hard win, in the end, with smart playing and a whole lot of talent.

This win marked the Dolphins’ first 2-0 start since 2010, putting them atop the AFC East with all eight home games still to come. “We were really fired up to get a win on the road against a team that doesn’t lost [at home] typically,” said Wheeler. The game was a real knuckle-biter, keeping fans everywhere on the edge of their seats. For a while, the game looked destined to play to script. The Dolphins jumped to an early 14-3 lead, but as in last year’s loss to Indianapolis, they let it slip away. The Colts led 20-17 early in the third quarter, and Luck, who entered Sunday with eight career fourth-quarter comeback victories, was rolling.

Inside a joyous postgame locker room, the win’s significance wasn’t lost on the Dolphins, from the top down. Even the normally stoic Joe Philbin was emotionally charged when he addressed the team. “It is very satisfying anytime you can win on the road and to have a complete game,” said Tannehill.

Back in the AP Top 25 – Your Miami Hurricanes!!!!

Congratulations to the Miami Hurricanes, who jumped into The Associated Press (AP) Top 25 on Sunday!! Debuting as No. 15 following its 21-16 upset win over Florida, they’re back in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the week of Nov. 14, 2010. It’s also their first top-15 ranking since the week of Oct. 3, 2010, when they were ranked No. 13.

The AP College Poll provides weekly rankings of the top 25 NCAA teams in one of three Division I college sports: football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. The rankings are compiled by polling sportswriters across the nation. Each voter provides his own ranking of the top 25 teams, and the individual rankings are then combined to produce the national ranking by giving a team 25 points for a first place vote, 24 for a second place vote, and so on down to 1. The USA Today Poll ranks Miami at No. 18, tied with Michigan, and ESPN.com’s Power Rankings place Miami at No. 14.

Stay tuned for more exciting news on our beloved Miami team; more excitement is scheduled on September 21st  for the game against Savannah State, starting at 7 pm. After that, the 28th is the game against USF, and October 5th against Georgia Tech. If you missed out on the chance to be a season ticket holder for this 2013 season, you now have a second chance to get your season tickets for the remaining home games, with prices starting at $80 in the 400 level.

We at the Therapy-IV love our sports and will be keeping you up-to-date on latest news and updates in college and pro-football. If you’re looking for a thrilling day out, consider us for your next Miami Deep Sea Fishing trip. Call me, Captain Stan, at 305-945-1578.

A Day of Remembrance on a Solemn Anniversary 09-11

On this day, we at The THERAPY-IV are remembering the attack that changed America exactly 12 years ago. Bowing our heads, we think of those we lost on that fateful day, the families who were also victim to the terror, and the many lives lost in battles that were spawned in the smoldering rubble of ground zero. To this day, the toll of 9/11 is still being felt in the thousands of deaths during a decade of war, and in honor of their sacrifice we are spending the day in solemn remembrance.

In 102 minutes on September 11, 2001, the world looked in horror as terrorist flew hijacked passenger planes into New York City’s mighty twin towers, killing more than 2,700 people. Since that day, there have been countless witness accounts shared with the world. Here is a link to an informative and interactive tool provided by History.com that shares nine unfiltered videos from nine New Yorkers who witnessed that day. Also found on the site are other interactives and related videos worthy of watching.

Check out these other notable links on 12th anniversary; Read some powerful quotes remembering 9/11 here, more on the continuing effect the attack has on countless lives here, and more on the memorial at the site of the Twin Towers here. It is important to remember our country’s history to completely understand what has shaped us, what we can overcome, and what it means to be an American.

We are so proud to be American, and to spend our days sharing the beloved American pastime of sports fishing to all those who come to our charter for a great time. If you’d like to spend a day out at sea with us, call me, Captain Stan at 305-945-1578, or visit our page at Therapy4.com.

Canes Versus Gators in Highly-Anticipated Game This Saturday!

Brace yourselves for the game Florida college football fans have been waiting for this season; the game pitting long-time rivals UM Hurricanes against UF ‘Gators this Saturday, September 7th! The infamous rivalry still burns brightly, making the event all the more anticipated and more exciting. In fact, the advanced parking passes for Saturday’s football game at Sun Life Stadium are all completely sold out. These include the parking passes on the main grounds, so fans without pre-paid parking will be directed to the stadium’s cash lots that line the outer roads into the stadium.

You might also find the majority of Canes fans wearing white to the game, as it was declared “White Out the Gators” Saturday! So, if you’re a fan of Florida’s best college football team, show your support by donning your best white t-shirt. UM’s student-run organization, Category 5, has ordered 6,000 white shirts to be distributed to UM students today at a pep rally. The t-shirts feature an Al Golden tie and a pair of Sebastian the Ibis sunglasses.

Tomorrow’s game marks the 55th time in series history that Miami and Florida will meet, with kickoff set for noon eastern time on ESPN. It’s the first series meeting since 2008 and the first UM home game in the series since 2003, so it’s bound to be an historic event. The Hurricane’s Honorary Captain for the game will be Brock Berlin, who led Miami to 28 unanswered points and a 38-33 come-from-behind victory over Florida in 2003.

With all the excitement and intensity of this Saturday’s game, you’re bound to be exhausted by the end of it. Plan a relaxing Miami Deep Sea Fishing trip out to sea with The THERAPY-IV this Sunday, or any day of the week. The THERAPY-IV is Miami’s best fishing charter with over 40 years experience in local waters. Call me, Captain Stan, at 305-945-1578 with any questions.
