Avoid a Sunburn With These Tips

When you’re out on the azure waters, embarking on the adventure that is Miami Beach Deep Sea Fishing, it is easy to overlook one of the essential ingredients needed for enjoying the outdoors in Miami: sun block. Even if you do remember to put on sun block, with all the salt water around, you’re going to want a little extra protection. Here are some tips for avoiding a sunburn:

Wear a wide brimmed hat.  They keep the sun off your neck and ears.
Wear a long sleeved shirt. It’s the easiest way to keep the sun off your arms, and there are lightweight long-sleeved shirts that will keep you cool.
Don’t wear a V-Neck.  Unless you don’t mind that little pink V in the middle of your chest.
Wear pants.  Again there are plenty of lightweight options.
Keep your socks on in the skiff.  You shouldn’t cast from the bow of the boat wearing flats boots because you can’t feel the line under your feet, but with bare feet the tops of your feet can get burned.  With socks on you can feel your fly line but your feet are protected.
Wear sunsleeves.  If you really prefer short-sleeved shirts, sunsleeves are a great option to keep your forearms protected.
Wear a Buff.  There’s a reason pretty much all flats guides use them – it’s a simple, versatile way to keep sun off your head and face.  Lots of different brands work great.
Use good sunscreen.  Since you’re taking the time to lather it on, be sure it’s high quality stuff.
Reapply sunscreen.  No sunscreen lasts all day.  Reapply when you’re out on the water.  Lunchtime is an excellent marker.
Stand in the shade. You can lose track of time when fishing, so spend it under the shade when you can.
Wear sun gloves.  They take a little getting used to, but they keep the sun off one of the most vulnerable parts of your body.
Use lip protection.  A cracked, nasty bottom lip is no fun.  Don’t forget the chap stick with sun protection.

Our fishing experience is perfect for anyone, beginners and seasoned alike. Monsters, as they are affectionately nick-named, refer to big game fish. Deep Sea Fishing is an adventure available to anyone through The THERAPY-IV fleet- our boats are even outfitted for wheelchair accessible fishing. Our fleet consists of two magnificent, huge yachts fully-equipped to catch a variety of fish, such as Marlin, Sailfish, Sharks, Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi or Dorado), Tuna, Wahoo, Barracuda, Snappers, and many more. These features include a large tuna tower for spotting big game, giant live bait tanks, giant outriggers for spacing the baits apart and a giant flying bridge with a captain’s chair and two fighting chairs. The cockpit fishing area is equipped with a giant transom door for boating the monsters safely. Deluxe amenities, such as air conditioning, TV, XM satellite radio, bar counter, shower, and more, can be enjoyed on our boats.

Located in Halouver Marina, The THERAPY-IV fleet is just 6 minutes from the gulf stream, a prime spot for catching many types of fish as they migrate. I, Captain Stan Saffan of THERAPY-IV fleet, as well as my crew, have over 40 years experience fishing Miami’s coastline, which makes us experts on the art of baiting and catching monsters. I couldn't believe it when I pulled up to the dock. I was not expecting such luxury on a fishing boat. I mean the inside is carpeted...and the blue lights make this boat sparkle. Captain Stan is an amazing tour guide. I'm not much of a fisherwoman...but I learned so much about the history of the area...while my fiancé reeled in a huge mahi. A must do in SOFLO!” –Margaret S

My daughter decided to take my husband deep sea Fishing for his birthday. My girls and I first time deep sea fishing, we were all so excited. Captain Bob & Abie were extremely nice and professional, they made our adventure one we will never forget. This will definitely be a trip to do again. At the end of the trip crew new all five of us by our first name. We were greeted by Captain Stan (owner). I have to say that he runs a first-class operation. Yacht was extremely clean. Thank you Captain Stan and the Amazing Crew you have that made our day so special.” -Dayamilazo

I’m from NYC, came to Florida for business reasons. Fortunately, I had a day off. Well, thank god I picked the THERAPY 4 to get my fish craving relieved. The captain and mate Abie were nothing short of spectacular. Left the dock around 1pm weather was perfect and so was the boat. They welcomed me with open arms. Though the fishing was slow they made sure to put me on to some fish. The tackle and accommodations were great. ABIE, was very outgoing and has wicked knowledge of the waters we fished. Ive been fishing since i was five years old and its great when you can still get schooled by an intelligent crew. THUMBS UP GUYS!!!!” –Joe C

Stan Saffan is an established boater and fisherman with over 40 years of experience fishing in the Miami waters. He started fishing at the age of seven with his father and brother, both on fishing piers and on drift-fishing boats at Haulover Beach. At age thirteen, he started working on all-day drift-fishing boats as a deckhand and then as first mate. Captain Stan continued to work every weekend, holiday, and summer to perfect the art of fishing the Florida waters, all in the endeavor to fulfill his dream of one day becoming a captain and launching his own fishing charters. Throughout college, he worked at sea every afternoon and weekend on local sportfishing boats and, within a few years, started working full-time on the first “THERAPY.” In 1976, Stan built his first charter fishing boat, and continued to build another one before completing his new 2010 THERAPY-IV.

A Preview of Today’s World Cup Match: Brazil V Germany

Just because the USMNT was knocked out of the World Cup last week doesn’t mean excitement has waned for the world’s biggest sport event! On the contrary, with just four teams left to battle it out, the world is tuning in to the semi-final match of Brazil against Germany today. The winner of today’s match will go on to play against the winner of tomorrow’s match (Argentina v the Netherlands) for the FIFA World Cup 2014 title. Here are some notes on today’s teams:

Team News
Brazil are without Neymar with a fractured vertebra.
Thiago Silva, who collected a second yellow card in the quarter-final win over Colombia, is suspended.
The captain is expected to be replaced by Dante.
Germany, meanwhile, are without Shkodran Mustafi for the semi-final and, if they win, the final, after he suffered a thigh problem against Algeria in the last-16 tie.
Per Mertesacker, who like several team-mates, has been suffering with flu, undergoes a test.

Match Notes
If experience counts in high-pressure games such as this then both coaches have it in bucketfuls; Luiz Felipe Scolari and Joachim Löw are in their third World Cup semi-finals.
The Brazil coach took his country to the last four in 2002 and repeated the feat with four years later, with Portugal.
Löw was assistant to assistant to Jürgen Klinsmann in 2006 and, after replacing the coach, he led Germany to the 2010 semi-final.
Losing Neymar will handicap Brazil but, on the plus side, the home crowd will act as a 12th man.
Neither side have impressed on a regular basis, and one wonders whether they are holding something back for this stage.
The hosts have the territorial advantage but Germany have goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who could prove invaluable if the tie goals to penalties.
Stat of the game: These teams have met 21 times, with Germany winning only four and losing 12.

You can be sure that we at The THERAPY-IV will be watching closely! For more information on Miami Beach Deep Sea Fishing, contact us by calling 305-945-1578.

Get Ready for Fourth of July Festivities!

If you live in Miami, you know there is never a shortage of activities to enjoy in the fast-paced, vibrant city. Naturally, with our country's independence day coming up, there are a plethora of fantastic events to be a part of this Friday that will make for some great Instagram material, no doubt.

1. Check out fireworks on Miami Beach.
Nothing screams South Florida like toes in the sand, drink in hand, and rainbow-hued explosives bursting above. Miami Beach is the quintessential spot for the Fourth of July, and this year is no exception. The fireworks take place at the North Beach Bandshellat 73rd Street and Collins Avenue at 9 p.m. Admission is free.

2. Hear live music in Miami Lakes.
If you reside farther north and don't want to fight horrific holiday traffic, make your way to the Miami Lakes concert and fireworks show. Take along blankets, chairs, and red, white, and blue snacks to share. The event takes place at Miami Lakes Picnic Park West at 15151 NW 82nd Ave. It starts at 5 p.m., and it's free.

3. Party in Bayfront Park.
Dubbed "America's Birthday Bash," this is a Miami-style soiree -- big, raucous, and anything but subtle. Bayfront Park will be transformed into a patriotic party pit featuring a Sam Adams beer garden, lawn games, a kids' zone, live tunes, photo ops, and all kinds of other stuff to entertain you till the fireworks blast off. The event takes place at Bayfront Park. The park is open all day, but events run from 2 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

4. World Soccer Fest Watch Party.
You don't have to choose between World Cup Mania and Independence Day this Friday; you can combine the two at the Seminole Hard Rock. There will be World Cup games on an outdoor screen, along with food trucks, a DJ, and a halftime parade featuring samba dancers, drummers, capoeira performers, bikini flag models, and sexy soccer players. Plus fireworks. The event takes place at the Seminole Hard Rock, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood. It runs from 4 to 9 p.m., and it's free.

5. Patriotic parade on Key Biscayne.
