Spend the Day at October's Kitetober Fest

The Haulover Park and Miami Beach skyline is going to become a dazzling spectrum of colors next month when the 23rd annual Kitetober Fest takes place on Sunday, October 18th hosted by Miami-Dade Parks and Skyward Kites.  The event kicks off at 12 pm and continues until 5 pm.  Best of all, admission to the event is free, and parking costs only $7.

If you have never attended the kite festival, you're missing out on some of the classic kites that have made frequent appearances at previous events like the thirty foot Nemo fish, the flying scuba man, and the even larger 150 foot flying rainbow. These are only a sample of the various kites that will be soaring the skies as guests are encouraged to bring their kites.  If you don't have a kite, you can make one free of charge at the event by participating in one of the paper kite building classes or buying one that's already done for you.  Whether you have a small kite or one that's designed to grab attention against the blue skies of Miami Beach, kites of all sizes are welcome!  Try your kite flying skills against others in the separate kids and adults competition or just bring a blanket, find a comfy spot and see everyone's creations while enjoying a drink or bite.

Musical guest 21 Hearts, 1 Beat will be performing art the festival, and there will be eight different food vendors in case you get hungry.
