Last Friday, Miami Beach officially welcomed its new water taxi service, perfect for those people that would prefer the feel of being on vacation versus being stuck in South Florida’s awful traffic. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Purdy Avenue in the Sunset Harbour neighborhood to officially welcome the water taxi.
For the time being, the water taxi will operate on Fridays through Sundays at its Purdy Avenue location. However, it will operate throughout the entire week at its three other locations. While the taxi may seem to be geared towards visitors, there are hopes that Miami Beach residents and those living across Biscayne Bay will also use it more often.
With the new Purdy Avenue location officially opened, people can leave their vehicle at the dock and use the water taxi between Miami Beach and Miami, with access points also located at Sea Isle Marina, Bayside Marketplace, and the Miami Beach Marina.
The water taxi can accommodate up to 38 people.
