Fishing for Cobia

Cobia are powerful, coastal fish which are renowned by anglers for their aggressive demeanor. Cobia are easy to find near the coastline, as they stay there for most of their lifespan. However, they are migratory fish, moving to South Florida during the winter and going up the coast as the temperature rises. Cobia will go after all different kinds of bait, though an intrepid angler intending to land one will want to use sturdy equipment. These fish can grow up to two meters long and weigh up to 170 pounds, and their aggressive nature makes for a tough fight when one gets hooked.

The THERAPY-IV Deep Sea fishing charter boats are two, big, gorgeous air-conditioned charter fishing boats that offer deep-sea fishing in first class luxury and style. They also feature the best fishing tackle including great fishing rods, reels and kites. Deep Sea fishing in the Atlantic Ocean off of Miami is exciting because of the great variety of big fish and bottom fish that can be caught.

The THERAPY-IV welcomes beginners and experienced anglers. For reservations including Marlin Fishing, Sailfish Fishing and Shark Fishing in Miami, give Captain Stan a call at the THERAPY-IV (305-945-1578) and he will be happy to assist you with making your plans to go deep sea fishing in Miami Beach. The boats on Miami Beach dock at Bill Bird Marina in Haulover Park- a scenic area with beautiful water views.

After years of trying to get the tournament fully off the ground, a world-class tennis tournament emerged on February 4, 1985, featuring of some of the best male and female players in the sport.

Are You Ready for Ultra 2017?

The time has almost arrived, ladies and gentlemen! The 2017 Ultra Music Festival returns next month to Miami for another high energy celebration of electronic music. As it has in previous years, the festival will once again be held at Bayfront Park in Miami beginning on March 24 through the 26th.

Last year, one of the most anticipated acts set to make an appearance was English music group and big beat pioneers The Prodigy. Mere hours before the group was set to take the stage, the performance was canceled, leaving many fans heartbroken. The good news is the group is returning to Ultra 2017 as a live headliner and will be joined by Major Lazer, Justice, Underworld, and even influential rapper turned actor Ice Cube.

What would Ultra be without DJs? Also joining the lineup of headliners will be DJ Snake, Swedish DJ duo Axwell and Ingrosso, and even a reunion by UK DJs Sasha & Digweed. With several stages pumping music, the festival will maintain its penchant for being a fun, electrifying experience for everyone.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Tomorrow, we will once again celebrate what is perhaps the second most wonderful time of the year: Valentine’s Day. While a lot of people enjoy the holiday and see it as a time to gift chocolates, teddy bears, and roses, the history is worth exploring.

Valentine’s Day was originally a day honoring a series of saints going by the name of Valentinus. Saint Valentine was a Roman priest who was martyred in 269 and was added to the calendar of saints by a Pope named in Galesius in 496. His skull adorned with a flower crown is still visible in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Rome to this day.

The connections to romantic love involving St. Valentine’s Day and its celebrations did not come about until the poet Chaucer mentioned it in his poem Parlement of Foules which honored the first anniversary of Anne of Bohemia and Kind Richard II of England. Interestingly, the day is also mentioned in Shakespeare’s play Hamlet by the character Ophelia.

Changes in Store for This Month’s Yachts Miami Beach

The 29th Annual Yachts Miami Beach show returns this month to the beautiful barrier island beginning on February 16th through the 20th. As Miami Beach’s premier luxury yacht show, this year’s show not only has a new name, there are plenty of surprises in store for new and returning attendees.

Once called the Yacht and Brokerage Show, the showcase of luxury yachts transforms Collins Avenue into a breathtaking display of some of the most progressively designed yachts and superyachts in the world created by an international lineup of custom boat builders. The show includes more than a million square feet and a mile-long section of the Indian Creek Waterway, displaying cutting edge and formerly owned vessels for sale generally valued at over a billion dollars.

This year, transportation options will include a northern and southern water taxi available for attendees to use. The pick up point for the former will be at 67th Street and Collins Avenue at the Rowing Club, while the latter pick up point will be at COMO Metropolitan Hotel (you might know it as the Traymore) at 24th Street and Collins Avenue.
