Do you have any plans for the weekend? You can enjoy a fun for all ages event that won’t cost you a ton of money to enjoy. The Kitetober Kite Festival is returning for its 25th year at Haulover Park, adorning the skies of the city in hundreds of various shapes and colors. As in previous years, some of the highlights will include the flying squid spanning over 100 feet, the thirty-foot-tall scuba man, the flying Nemo Fish, and much more!
Hosted by Miami-Dade Parks and Skyward Kites, the event is a celebration of all things kites, from flying them to classes on how to build them. Enthusiasts looking to test their skills can participate in some friendly competition and children will also be able to participate in their own kid-friendly competition. Regardless of your age, anyone is welcome to fly their kites in the South Florida skies or create their own free of charge. There will also be pre-assembled kites available for purchase if you’d rather not make your own.
Even if you have no intention of flying a kite, you’re encouraged to bring a blanket, find a comfy spot, and enjoy the kaleidoscope of kites.
The Kitetober Kite Festival is free to attend and parking is only $7.
