It’s Tuesday, but the free events in Miami are happening throughout the week. As the holiday season starts to ramp up, here are a couple of suggestions that won’t affect whatever budget you may have put aside for your holiday celebrations.
For a decade now, The Knight Foundation has provided funds for Miami-based artists through its Knight Arts Challenge, spearheading over 300 culture and art projects throughout the city. To celebrate, the Lights, Camera, 305 event is being held at Gibson Park on Thursday. Three different screens will show over ten films which you can selectively tune into using headphones provided by Silent Revolution. The event begins at 7 pm and there is no fee to attend provided you RSVP.
Decades ago when rock and roll was emerging, a sway of the hips could land you in hot water for being too suggestive. Local band Patrick & the Swayzees will bring some of this classic swagger back to Miami when they perform at Blackbird Ordinary on Friday at 9 pm. Get there before 10 pm and you’ll also enjoy drinks at half price.
On Saturday, Latin Grammy-nominated Cuban singer and rapper Danay Suárez will perform a pair of sets at Hialeah Park at 8 pm. There will also be a Cuban Guys food truck in case you’re hungry.
