New Year’s Eve in South Florida

Have you decided what you will be doing for New Year’s Eve yet? If you haven’t, why not consider spending it right here in beautiful Miami Beach? Instead of dealing with the frigid temperatures of Times Square, you can welcome 2019 in the warmer temperatures where you’re bound to spot a celebrity or two.
Bayfront Park is quickly emerging as South Florida’s answer to Times Square. Similar to Ryan Seacrest becoming synonymous with New Year’s Eve celebrations in New York, our own native “Mr. 305” better known as Pitbull has been headlining at Bayfront Park. The New Year's Revolution celebration has become something of a Miami tradition and it brings hundreds of thousands of people together to ring in the New Year.
If these massive celebrations aren’t your thing, you can always head to the posh Fontainebleau right here in Miami Beach and enjoy the poolside performances courtesy of multicultural musical acts like the Swedish DJ Alesso or the reggaeton stylings of Colombian singer José Álvaro Osorio Balvin, better known simply as J Balvin.
No matter where you decide to go, you’re bound to have a great time in South Florida. Happy 2019!

What to Do with Your Catch

There is no doubt that deep sea fishing is one of the most memorable and unique experiences you can enjoy. From sailing out onto the waters of South Florida to the thrill of feeling something tug on your line and the rush of reeling it in, it’s quite exhilarating. Once you’ve triumphantly caught your fish, what should you do next?
There are instances where you may have to or may wish to release the fish. Depending on the fish, you may only be able to catch and release it if, for example, the fish is not the minimum size legally required to keep it. Then again, you may not wish to keep the fish for whatever reason. The simple thrill of catching and knowing you managed to catch one all by yourself is sometimes enough.
Have you seen those fish some people have mounted on the walls? It may not necessarily be the particular fish the person successfully caught. Preserving the fish is a process that’s easier said than done, so most people prefer to have it replicated by an expert. Consider snapping a photo of the fish that highlights its details.

Where to Eat After Fishing and Art Basel

You’re planning your holiday trip of deep sea fishing, Art Basel, and food. With so many different places to try in Miami Beach, which one deserves your hard earned money? Here are a couple of suggestions worth considering.
Lucali is a pizzeria and wine bar on Bay Road which has what may be perhaps the most delicious pizza in all of Miami Beach. The $24 price may seem steep but the taste speaks for itself. All of the ingredients are imported directly from Italy, which means you’ll be having genuine San Marzano tomatoes while you enjoy the more than generously sized pies.
Speaking of Italy, the Italian-themed restaurant Macchialina on Alton Road is among the best of its kind in the barrier island. It is particularly well-known for its small plates meant to be shared like the meatballs. Don’t forget to try the coffee granita topped tiramisu for dessert before you go.
The menu served at the Pubbelly on 20th Street is a mix of Asian and Puerto Rican fare devised by chef Jose Mendin. Try dishes like the Brussels sprouts bacon miso or perhaps the pork belly bao buns. You can also munch on sushi next door at the appropriately named Pubbelly Sushi.

Famous Rapper’s Restaurant Debuts This Month

Miami has given rise to plenty of superstars, with singer and former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello being one of them. However, few names are as tied to Miami as rapper Armando Christian Pérez, better known by his stage name Pitbull and “Mr. 305” moniker. He has established quite the presence in South Florida and one of his latest ventures is set to tie him even more to his birthplace.
This month, Pitbull’s highly anticipated iLov305 restaurant makes its debut. Strangely however, though the restaurant publicist states the restaurant will be open by Christmas Day, there is no firm opening date and the grand opening party isn’t scheduled until January 15, the day when Pitbull will celebrate his 38th birthday.
Once it opens its doors at its 1060 Ocean Drive address in Miami Beach, iLov305 will feature a Latin steakhouse theme. The restaurant will have over 6,000 square feet of lounge and bar space and will serve a series of cocktails with names like the “305 Grande” and “La Diabla” along with Pitbull’s own brand of vodka called Voli.
For those seeking employment, iLov305 is still seeking to fill positions for bartenders, hosts, and servers.
