Summer is practically a year-round thing in South Florida but the season “officially” ends later this month. Why not make the most of it? Here are a few ideas you may want to consider before the season “ends”.
Have a beach day. Whether you like to sunbathe, walk along the shore or take a cool dip, the beach is a tried and true and always fun experience.
Scratch off what’s left of your summer bucket list. Perhaps you’ve been planning a quick trip South Florida or you’d like to see for yourself what all the deep sea fishing trip brouhaha is about. The warm weather is ideal for a day at sea as the daylight is longer, which means more opportunities to catch fish. If you’re intrigued, book your fishing trip today before summer is over.
Enjoy a bite on the water. Once summer is over, chances are the daily responsibilities of life will mean less time with friends and loved ones. A cookout party brings everyone together and provides lots of fun. You can probably rent a boat and spend some time at sea while munching on some great food.

Oktoberfest in Miami Beach
Way back in the 1800s, Oktoberfest served as something of an extended wedding reception for Crown Prince Ludwig and his bride Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Today, the festival is celebrated in numerous cities around the world, including Miami right here in South Florida.
Right here in Miami Beach, Abbey Brewing Company at 1115 16th Street will be observing Oktoberfest for the 24th time during its annual party. Expect to see plenty of craft plus traditional German beer varieties. You can also partake in the pig roast or one of the Jägermeister shot specials. The festivities begin at 1 pm on Sunday, September 29 and will stretch well into the morning until 5 am.
Also in Miami Beach, North Beach Bandshell will serve as the host of North Beach Oktoberfest. Expect plenty of live music courtesy of international acts like Germany's Vroni, the Pech and Schwefel Band from Austria, and lots more. Make sure to try some of the traditional Bavarian food as a complement to the drinks. The event begins at 2 pm until 11 pm on Saturday, September 28 and then resumes on Sunday from 1 pm to 10 pm. Best of all, there is no cost to attend.

A New Rail May Be in the Works
Have you ever wished there more ways to get to and from Miami Beach and the downtown area than the Julia Tuttle, MacArthur, and the Venetian? If so, you may be interested in a new form of transportation being evaluated today by the Miami Dade County Commission.
A proposal dubbed the Beach Connector is being evaluated which would consist of a rail connecting downtown and Miami Beach. The project has been floating around in some form for more than two decades but has yet to be approved. As tourism continues to break records and younger generations rely less on driving, another way to get around from South Florida’s ultra popular barrier island could prove useful in easing Florida’s traffic infrastructure. Furthermore, it could go a tremendously long way in easing the woes many locals and tourists face when trying to find parking on the beach, which is easier said than done on weekends and holidays.
There is still a long way to go before the Beach Connector will clear all of the hurdles necessary for it to become reality. Do you think it would ease the connection between Miami and the beach?
