All Systems Go for Miami Beach Art Event

As events get canceled because of the pandemic, the director of a certain Miami Beach event that takes place in December is making it clear that the event is still open. Indeed, the popular art showcase better known as Art Basel will proceed as normal. Art Basel is arguably the biggest highlight of Miami Art Week, which sees thousands of art aficionados seeking to admire or collect the latest works.
While Art Basel Miami Beach is still on, organizers behind the event are very well aware that the conditions may change and certain actions may need to be taken. The Art Basel events in Hong Kong were canceled back in March because of the pandemic while the Switzerland Art Basel was postponed from June to September of this year.
Art Basel works with local institutions in collaboration with the host city to assist with nurturing and developing art programs. Although Art Basel provides galleries with a forum to display and sell their work to customers, art spectators and students have helped to broaden its appeal to a wide international audience.

Miami Beach’s Re-Opening Begins This Week

Miami Beach recently added the finishing touches to its extensive plan involving the careful re-opening of the city, expected to begin this Wednesday while being rolled out in a series of phases.
The initial phase of the city re-opening will involve allowing Miami Beach’s 600+ retail stores to open their doors again, as well as various museums and other retail establishments such as barber shops and salons. Phase two of the reopening will begin on the 27th and would allow sidewalk cafes and the numerous restaurants to also re-open.
Even with all of the re-openings, however, all businesses will be required to follow established guidelines aimed at social distancing. Among them, all businesses are only allowed to operate at fifty percent capacity and customers and workers are also expected to maintain the minimum six-foot distance.
Locals and visitors should note that for the time being, the beaches will remain closed along with other businesses like bars, gyms, spas, and movie theaters.

Make a Food Donation in Miami Beach

While many are fortunate to have their jobs and the resources to pay the bills and put food on the table, countless others are struggling to make it as a result of the difficulties brought on by the coronavirus. To help those that need it, Miami Beach is launching an initiative to provide food for families throughout Miami-Dade County, and you can help!
Beginning this Wednesday, May 13, the Fillmore Miami Beach will be accepting non-perishable food items from noon until 5 pm. The donations will continue until Saturday. Look for the large overhand where collections will be taking place. All you’ll need to do is pop the trunk open and a volunteer will grab the bags, there is no need to exit your vehicle.

Miami Beach Selectively Opens Parks

In case you missed the news, several parks and facilities in Miami Beach reopened last week after Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez spearheaded an order to reopen various golf courses, waterways, and more. The plan does come with various restrictions in place.
Among the places now open are Flamingo Park and its track, the North Shore Park batting cages, and various tennis courts. Despite the openings, restrictions mandating social distancing remain firmly in place and park rangers will be making sure these rules remain enforced. Several parks like Beach View Park, LaGorce Park, and Washington Dog Park also remain closed and amenities such as volleyball and basketball courts remain off-limits to decrease the chances of large gatherings.
Currently, park hours in Miami Beach are from 7 am to 7 pm. Boat ramps are also open from 6 am to 8 pm for those wishing to sail or go fishing. Municipal parking lots at the city parks are only open to those registered with Miami Beach’s residential parking program.
