New Rules for Biscayne National Park Fishing

To anyone who plans on doing some fishing near Biscayne National Park, listen up. Several fishing rules will be going into effect on the first of July, aimed at reviving the levels of snapper, grouper, and other fish in the area.
Spanning over 260 square miles, Biscayne National Park has seen tremendous fishing and boating activity over the years. Over sixteen different fish species have seen numbers drop by more than sixty percent.
Based on the new rules, bag limits for certain fish will see an increase to ten and there will also be an increase in minimum size limits. Lobstering and traps plus lobster harvesting will be prohibited around certain reefs such as Fowey Rocks as well as four reefs just east of Elliott Key.
Some of the fish that will have limits placed on them include the hogfish, yellow and black grouper, and mutton and yellowtail, to name a few.

Celebrate Father’s Day in Miami Beach

In less than a week, many of us will once again be celebrating and honoring the fathers and father figures in our lives. Should you need some suggestions on places to enjoy the day with dad, two places in Miami Beach will be offering a Father’s Day menu.
We’ll begin with Red South Beach on Washington Avenue. The restaurant will be selling an entire master chef box packed with a pair of butcher shop ribeye steaks, the restaurant’s spice rubs, a [air of New York strips, and Maker’s Mark bourbon. The box even includes a Red apron and the cooler bag means it can be reused for future celebrations.
For those that want someone else to do the food preparation, chef and father Frederic Joulin of Semilla on Alton Road will be preparing a seven-course brunch box menu available for delivery or takeout. Enjoy foods like avocado toasts, tomato and cucumber accompanied quinoa, scrambled eggs with chives, and more. The box will serve two people and orders must be placed in advance.

The Sands of Miami Beach Reopen Tomorrow

After much anticipation, the mayor of Miami-Dade County finally is lifting the beach curfew, opening up the sands of Miami Beach and beyond to the public tomorrow after being closed to maintain social distancing regulations.
Originally set to open at the beginning of the month, the beaches remained closed due to the various protests that occurred in areas such as downtown Miami. The news follows closely in the footsteps of the recent decision to reopen businesses like fitness centers in Miami Beach to the public. These businesses have implemented measures to encourage social distancing including ensuring a certain amount of distance and shutting down showers.
As for the beaches, they are limited to a maximum of ten people per group and facial coverings are required if it is not feasible to maintain the six-foot social distancing minimum. This rule does not apply to members of the same household, however. Facial coverings must be worn at concessions or restrooms and neither floats nor coolers are allowed.

Miami Beach Gives More Businesses the Green Light

As Miami Beach makes careful moves to reopen, the city announced last week it will reopen more businesses and facilities this week, provided they follow the necessary guidelines. Those of you eager to get back to the gym, for example, will now be able to do so.
One of the trickier businesses to reopen is movie theaters and performance venues. Miami Beach has made it clear that these businesses as well as others such as bowling alleys will be allowed to reopen as long as the submit what’s called a “COVID mitigation plan” to the city as well as Miami-Dade County.
Nightclubs and standalone bars are to remain closed, however. However, there are exceptions to this. Pubs and bars that are licensed as public good service establishments can resume operations to sell drinks and food.
Some other places that have recently reopened or are expected to reopen include dog parks and youth sports, the latter being allowed with certain rules and social distancing in place.

The Acrobatic Tarpon

The tarpon is definitely among the sea dwellers known for giving even the most experienced of anglers a challenge. Anglers will potentially spend their whole life working on their tarpon fishing technique because of the unpredictability and obstinacy of the fish.
Tarpon has earned a reputation for its acrobatic feats, but you should be aware of the best spots to find one. In Miami, they are most active during the beginning of the month until they become more elusive as July approaches. A few spots you might be able to snag tarpon include Government Cut and Haulover Inlet.
Mullet and small crabs are an effective lure for tarpon, but shrimp runs are also worth checking out as an option. Tarpon eats at just about any time of day, but if you're willing to brave night fishing, the fish gets less vigilant and due to the darkness it won't be able to see the fishing lines.
Book your summer deep sea fishing trip today at THERAPY-IV if you want to try catching tarpon.
