Stone crab season has now begun and if you read our previous blogs, you’ll know that it comes with several changes mandated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Among them is a revision to the minimum claw size and limitations on the use of checker boxes.
Speaking of stone crab, an iconic and similarly named restaurant is also opening its doors today. Miami Beach’s Joe’s Stone Crab returns once again albeit with some significant changes in place. For one, guests will notice that its back parking lot is now being used as a yard of sorts, with more than 35 tables and even an alfresco alleyway kitchen. This extension means Joe’s Stone Crab now provides more seating options as well as another entrance. If you know anything about the restaurant, the wait times can be lengthy due to its perennial popularity.
In a first for Joe’s Stone Crab, the restaurant is implementing reservations, albeit on a limited basis. Guests can use the Resy app to make an evening reservation but make sure to do so early if you want to a stop.
Joe’s Stone Crab is located at 11 Washington Avenue.
