The wildlife rescue Pelican Harbor Seabird Station in Miami has remained steadfast in its mission to reduce, rehabilitate, and release a variety of wildlife including its namesake seabirds, pelicans, and more. Today, it is recognized on a global level for its rehabilitation efforts and it has treated well over 250 distinct bird species.
If you visit the Therapy-IV Facebook page, you may have noticed we recently shared a Pelican Harbor Seabird Station post focusing on Monroe, an adult white pelican with a wing that had permanent damage to its feathers. Today, she is one of the Education Ambassador Animals and is fond of hunting for fresh live fish.
Monroe is one of the several birds you can support through Pelican Harbor Seabird Station’s Adopt-a-Bird program. Some of the adoptable birds include screech owls, horned owls, brown pelicans, and more. Besides helping provide care for the bird, adoption includes a photo of the bird as well as the opportunity to meet the bird at the station.
